The team has developed an excellent reputation for its versatility and responsiveness and is the preferred legal provider for other public sector bodies including Academies and Schools, Borough Councils, Police & Crime Commissioner, Fire Authority, Pensions Authority, and NHS clients.

The team are regularly instructed in complex, high profile / value deals and are equally equipped to handle smaller, more straightforward transactions. Our wide range of clients have enabled the Property Section to develop specialisms in Education Land – examples of which include new schools and academy conversions; Estates – the sale, purchase letting and management of property portfolios; Pension Fund – the sale, purchase letting and management of  multi-million pound property portfolios nationwide consisting of central London and other nationally located office space, industrial parks, distribution centres, numerous retail premises of many leading high street brands; NHS Property – various landlord and tenant matters and general property related advice.

The team has experience gained in private practice as well as the public sector and currently inputs into district planning agreement consultations on behalf of the Highways Authority and Education Departments. They also have experience of advising District Councils on agreements and enforcement procedures showing a breadth of experience across the public sector.

The Contracts team provides support across the whole procurement spectrum from small projects below EU thresholds, to large scale £multi-million projects. The team puts a great deal of emphasis on commerciality, team working and strong personable relationships, both amongst the team and with their clients.

In addition to the drafting and completion of contractual documents, commercial and pragmatic advice is given by the team on all aspects of the procurement process including state aid, governance and risk mitigation. The team approach is one of working alongside and with the client rather than just for the client.

We are proud to be able to produce and deliver relevant and up to date training for commissioners, procurement staff and contract managers ensuring they are equipped with enough knowledge to know when they ought to involve legal advisors at their critical time of need.

The people in the team are a healthy amalgam of legal advisers with both private and public sector experience with varying levels of seniority to provide the right mix for every project, contract, transaction and client requirements.

The Child Care and Adult Social Care team comprises of highly trained, dedicated lawyers and support staff who all have an exceptional level of experience in their areas of work.

The team can offer the full range of legal services for local authorities in the field of child protection as well as advocacy in all Courts, in addition to a consultancy service for other local authorities together with the delivery of bespoke training for social workers and managers in ‘court preparation and the legal process’.  Child Care team colleagues have the Law Society's Children Law accreditation.
